What makes the MoleMap programme so unique?

The three diagnostic tools that are routinely used by MoleMap’s specialist dermatologists to help make accurate lesion assessments are:

Dermoscopy: this technique combines high magnification + high light intensity to penetrate the first layer of skin to see diagnostic features of moles that cannot be seen with the naked eye. This technique has been clinically proven to be significantly more accurate than naked eye alone.

Serial Monitoring: The universal truth about melanoma is change. Serial monitoring of pigmented lesions over time therefore helps identify dermoscopically featureless melanomas that could otherwise be overlooked during a routine point-in-time skin examination.

Total Body Photography: Did you know that roughly 50% of all melanomas first appear on unmarked skin i.e. not in pre-existing moles? The use of Total Body Photography helps specialists identify both new and changing lesions that might indicate melanoma skin cancer.

Only MoleMap routinely uses all three of these techniques in its world recognised melanoma detection and surveillance programme.

How does this compare to other melanoma services?
MoleMap has pioneered a world leading melanoma detection programme and it is the only service that utilises the above mentioned early detection tools for all of its patients. Combine this with the skills of specialist dermatologists and a one hour initial consultation and you've got a very thorough and accurate procedure. All designed to give people the assurance and confidence that their concerns are being taken seriously.
