Are Your Spots Changing?

One of the key advantages of having a MoleMap is that we create a medical record of your skin that enables our dermatologists to look for subtle changes in moles over time – subtle changes that could indicate melanoma skin cancer.

However, the utilisation of dermoscopic ‘serial monitoring’ of the lesion over a period of one year picked up changes in its structure that warranted this lesion being excised. It was diagnosed as an in situ melanoma (very early, non invasive stage).

Now that you have an existing MoleMap medical record, any follow-up visits will enable us to keep an eye out for subtle changes that could indicate early melanoma. This technique also confirms when moles are stable and this helps keep unnecessary excisions of benign lesions to a minimum.
